Product details

The model is a replica of the Fairchild Republic A-10A, also known as the Thunderbolt II. The need for air support for small targets was recognized early during the Vietnam conflict. After an experimental development program that began in the early 1970s, the Fairchild Republic Industries A-10 Thunderbolt II was selected for production. The required performance features included operation on unimproved short fields, maneuverability at both high and low flight speeds, easy maintenance, long wait times and range, excellent pilot protection, and the capacity for large mixed weapon loads. The appearance of the A-10 is striking, while its performance is remarkable. The A-10 has been in service since 1972 and proved its worth again in the last Gulf War.
