Art. No.: 300035356 Art. Description: 1:35 British Tank Destroyer Archer 17pdr. The model is a replica of the British tank destroyer Archer. During World War II, British troops found that the 2-pounder and 6-pounder guns were outmatched by German armor. As a result, planners decided to develop a powerful 17-pounder gun, equivalent to 76.2 mm. The vehicle on which the weapon was to be mounted was the Valentine. The turret of the vehicle was replaced by a combat compartment known as the Archer. Due to limited development time, the gun had to be mounted facing backward. Consequently, the Archer always fired in the opposite direction.
