Roden Douglas C-133A Cargomaster

C-133A Cargomaster - American heavy transport aircraft developed in the late 1950s. At one time, it was the largest aircraft in the heavy category and the only one capable of transporting nearly the entire armor palette of the U.S. Army of any size. The aircraft was extensively used during the height of the Cold War by the superpowers for transporting large quantities of military cargo from the United States to Western Europe. The C-133A was also utilized during the Vietnam War, and the C-133 participated in the U.S. space program to deliver equipment to Cape Canaveral. After extensive structural deficiencies were discovered, all aircraft of this type were retired from military service and moved to storage facilities or museums. The last use of the C-133 occurred in 1976 when oil equipment was shipped to Alaska. A total of 35 C-133A variants were built.
