Product details
By the end of the 8th century, the Vikings from Scandinavia regularly appeared in Britain and on the European mainland with their longships for raids. These seaworthy battle ships, approximately 20 meters long, had a bow at both the front and back, allowing them to enter or exit in either direction. Thanks to a shallow draft of just under 1.50 meters, the Vikings could also sail or row on rivers, enabling them to raid areas deep inland. With these ships, also known as dragons, which could reach speeds of around 20 knots and were highly maneuverable, the Vikings ventured as far as Iceland, Greenland, and even North America, as evidenced by settlement finds.
The model features a two-part hull with wood grain, large deck sections with engraved details, a typical dragon head, 64 separate individual shields, an anchor, and 32 oars. It includes a textured sail, mast, yardarm, and thread for authentic rigging, as well as a two-part base. Additionally, it comes with a comprehensive decal sheet for all the shields and the sail.
