Revell Model Set Viking Ship

By the end of the 8th century, the Vikings from Scandinavia regularly appeared in Great Britain and on the European mainland with their longships for raids. These seaworthy battle ships, approximately 20 meters long, had a bow at both the front and back, allowing them to enter or exit in either direction. Thanks to a shallow draft of just under 1.50 meters, the Vikings could also sail or row on rivers, enabling them to raid areas deep inland. With these ships, also known as dragons, which were fast and agile, reaching speeds of around 20 knots, the Vikings ventured as far as Iceland, Greenland, and even North America, as evidenced by settlement finds.
