While the prestigious GT was offered as a fastback, the LX could be equipped with practically the same features. Thus, the LX was perfect for drag racing. On most Saturday nights at the local drag strip, you will find a number of Mustang LX coupes. From 1979 to 1993, the Mustang was available in three body styles. The lower price and lighter weight made the LX ideal for drag racing.
