In 1969, the Mustang received its first major overhaul to maintain its leading position in the popular "Pony Car" class. Key to this were victories on the racetrack. Since the rules stipulated that custom versions had to be offered, the Boss 302 was equipped with all the parts that racing teams needed to win.
