Product details
The 1969 Chevelle was the second year of this model generation, but it remained America's most popular mid-size car. It featured minor changes compared to the 1968 model. The SSTM 396 was an option package priced at $347.60, and the 396 c.i. produced 325 horsepower in its base configuration. The Chevelle remained in the Chevy lineup until 1978. However, 1969 marked the peak of the muscle car wars, and the Chevelle was the King of the Hill. In fact, one could order a special 396 c.i. with up to 375 horsepower. There were also dealer specials under the COPO program, which further enhanced the Chevelle's reputation as the best muscle car.
