The Stegosaurus was an armored dinosaur that lived about 150 million years ago. It had a heavily rounded back, short front legs, a head that sat low to the ground, and a stiff tail that rose high into the air. The double plates along its back were likely used for defense and may have also helped regulate its temperature. The Stegosaurus weighed about 3000 kg and stood 3 m tall.
