Luxor

In the hunt for valuable treasures, the adventurers search the legendary temple in Luxor. The goal is the burial chamber of the Pharaoh. But already on the way there are numerous treasures to collect. A competition breaks out: the player who can reach the burial chamber fastest with their team of five adventurers and at the same time retrieve many treasures will win the game. No two games are alike, as the path to the burial chamber is different in every game and even changes during the game, presenting the players with ever new challenges.

In the running and collecting game "Luxor", players enter an ancient Egyptian temple with their adventurers and follow the passage to the Pharaoh's burial chamber. The way there is lined with valuable vases, statues, jewelry, and other treasures. To be allowed to pick them up, up to three of your own figures must be on the same field. This requires good planning because adventurers are moved by playing cards from your hand. However, only the outer two of the five hand cards are available for selection. Shuffling is forbidden. Drawn cards are always placed in the middle of the hand. The deeper a piece enters the temple, the more points it scores at the end. The fastest grab not only many treasures but also the sarcophagi in the burial chamber.

There is no stale mustiness blowing out of this tomb for the adventurers, but a pleasantly fresh breeze. With "Luxor", Rüdiger Dorn presents a modern interpretation of the treasure collecting game, which centers on the card mechanism that is both quickly comprehensible and challenging. This proves to be an excellent basis for an always exciting jockeying for position. The Pharaoh himself would probably love to take part in this once again. Nominated for the Game of the Year 2018.
