The film title is also a motto: Why go through the trouble of robbing a bank when you can just take the whole bank? Sure, it's not always that simple, but if the bank isn't firmly anchored, you might as well just take the entire makeshift building to get to the cash. This bizarrely funny idea is the premise of the bank robbery comedy "Let's Just Steal the Whole Bank."

The film is an adaptation of the crime novel "Bank Shot" from the John Archibald Dortmunder series by American author Donald E. Westlake, published in 1972. Director Gower Champion was originally a musical choreographer and dancer active on Broadway. Oscar-winner George C. Scott shines in the lead role. "Let's Just Steal the Whole Bank" is a fun caper comedy whose charm endures to this day. It can certainly be placed alongside legendary bank heist movies from the 1960s and 70s, such as "Bonnie & Clyde," "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," or "The Hot Rock.".
