Oracover® Air is the film for lightweight construction. Wherever weight savings are crucial, Oracover® Air is used. Oracover® Air is delivered without a hot melt adhesive layer. The hot melt adhesive is applied separately to the surface to be covered (see accessories). Oracover® Air Medium (approximately 34 µm) is suitable for airships up to about 4 meters in length.
Our tip: The Oracover® Air hot melt adhesive can stabilize unstable wood fibers that may become unstable and tear under stress. Wrinkling and, in the worst case, complete detachment of the fabric can result. For optimal pre-treatment of your wooden surface, we recommend applying the Oracover® Air hot melt adhesive to the areas to be ironed. The hot melt adhesive penetrates the wood and bonds the loose wood fibers in the core wood. This achieves excellent 3-D adhesion of the Oracover® Air covering film to the substrate. With the Oracover® Air hot melt adhesive, no further pre-treatment of the wood is necessary.
Application of the Oracover® Air hot melt adhesive:
1. Sand your wood thoroughly and remove the sanding dust.
2. Stir the contents of the can well.
3. Apply the hot melt adhesive 1-2 times thinly and evenly using a brush.
4. Allow the adhesive to dry overnight, but for at least 10 hours. (Please do not sand again)
5. Cover your model as usual with the Oracover® Air iron-on film.
Coverage: approximately 1 can / 1 m². Not suitable for substrates that are not resistant to organic solvents. Oracover® Air special thinner: If our adhesives in opened cans dry out a bit, the adhesive can be adjusted back to brush viscosity with the appropriate thinner.
