The model is a replica of US paratroopers from World War II. The 101st Airborne Division is the most famous paratrooper unit that served during the war. It was nicknamed "Screaming Eagle" due to the insignia (an eagle with an open beak) that the soldiers wore on their shoulders. The 101st Airborne participated in the military operations of D-Day, dropping behind enemy lines to capture many strategic objectives. The division also took part in Operation Market Garden and notably in the Battle of the Bulge during the siege of Bastogne, where they fiercely resisted the last counteroffensive of the German troops.
