Italeri Tornado GR.4

The Tornado is the result of a collaborative project between Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom aimed at developing a powerful multi-role combat aircraft. The main requirement was to create a modern, state-of-the-art aircraft capable of conducting low-level penetration attacks. This need was addressed by developing a twin-engine combat aircraft with variable-sweep wings. The Tornado GR.1 (Ground Attack/Reconnaissance) was the first version introduced by the Royal Air Force in the early 1980s. In 1996, the Tornado was upgraded to the GR.4 standard, which featured enhanced operational capabilities, new avionics systems for navigation, and the introduction of new onboard technologies. These systems enabled effective target identification and tracking, as well as weapon management for the newer generation of munitions such as Paveway IV bombs and Storm Shadow cruise missiles.
