Italeri Semovente M40 da 75/32

The model set Semovente M40 da 75/18 in scale 1:72 contains two models with a length of approximately 70 mm. The Semovente 75/18 M40, developed by Fiat Ansaldo, was employed by the Regio Esercito from the end of 1941 in North Africa and was used until the end of World War II. Although it was developed on the old frame of the M13/40 tank, it was the only Italian armored vehicle produced in large numbers that posed a serious threat to Allied tanks. Its 75 mm gun had good firepower and was effective even against the most modern and heavily armored enemy tanks like the Sherman. However, the effective gun could not compensate for several weaknesses, such as too light armor and an unreliable and weak engine derived from the M13/40 tank. The Italian Semovente was particularly used by the Ariete and Littorio Armoured Divisions in North Africa and, until the end of the war, by the Repubblica Sociale in northern Italy.
