Product details

Art. No.: 510005609 Product Name: 1:35 Mini Submarine "Biber" The model submarine Biber in 1:35 scale has a length of approximately 186 mm and includes 2 figures. Decals for one version are included. The "Biber" was the most well-known "pocket" submarine used by the Kriegsmarine at the end of World War II. The development of the Biber progressed extremely quickly. Design began in February 1944, and the first units were launched just 6 months later. With a length of only 9 meters, it had a range of 240 km. It could reach a maximum speed of 6.5 knots on the surface and 5.3 knots underwater. The Biber could be armed with two 530-mm torpedoes mounted externally on the submarine or with two mines. The crew consisted of a single person. The use of the Biber in the Kriegsmarine's strategy was quite straightforward: to provide a specific defense along the coasts to protect against a possible and increasingly likely Allied invasion. From 1944 until the end of World War II, the Kriegsmarine received over 300 Biber submarines and made them operational.
