The A-10 Thunderbolt II was developed by Fairchild Republic in the 1970s to meet the needs of the US Air Force. It is a powerful aircraft capable of conducting close air support missions, including attacks on tanks and armored vehicles. The Thunderbolt II is heavily armored and exceptionally robust. It features two General Electric turbofan engines and utilizes one of the most powerful aircraft cannons ever flown: the 30 mm GAU-8/A Avenger Gatling. With its eleven wing and fuselage pylons, the A-10 can carry an impressive offensive payload. The A-10 was first used in combat during the Gulf War in 1991, demonstrating its effectiveness by destroying over 900 enemy tanks.
