Stefan Erdmann set out many years ago to realize this film project on his own. Over 16 trips, he has traveled more than 30,000 kilometers across all regions of the island in an off-road vehicle, flown several thousand kilometers over the island in an ultralight aircraft with his Icelandic wife Porhallur Oskarsson, and trekked for days through the highlands on foot.

During his numerous stays, he experienced the largest volcanic island on Earth in breathtaking and legendary moments, filming several hundred hours of material. The essence of these recordings has been artfully and sensitively compiled by the filmmaker in this three-part film edition.

With his informative and empathetic commentary, which perfectly intertwines with the music specially composed for the films, he manages to immerse the viewer in the experience in symbiosis with the stunning landscape shots and long-lasting scenes, taking them along on his journey. You can feel in every scene and hear in every sound that Erdmann has experienced Iceland with great passion and has crafted these films. No other films showcase the country so intensely, emotionally, and informatively.
