Homeland - A German Chronicle

The "Heimat" trilogy tells the touching story of the Simon family and other residents of the village of Schabbach, a fictional place in the Hunsrück region. It sensitively connects contemporary history with personal destinies. In the first part, viewers follow the life of Maria Simon, who was born in 1900. In the second part, the young Hermann Simon moves from the province to Munich to experience the upheaval of an entire society as a student during the turbulent 1960s. The third and final cycle spans the events from the fall of the Berlin Wall to the turn of the millennium.
