The Leopard 1 is a German battle tank. It was the first tank developed in Germany after World War II and was used in a total of 13 countries across five different continents. Due to continuous upgrades in combat capabilities, it can still be found in the armies of many nations in the 21st century. From 1964 to 1984, 4,700 Leopard 1 battle tanks were produced in all variants. Krauss-Maffei Wegmann offers user nations of the Leopard 1 a variety of modernization options. The Leopard 1A4 is a modified Leopard 1A1 upgraded to version A4, with its new designation being 1A1A4. The delivery of this sixth batch began in August 1974 and ended in March 1976, with a total of 250 vehicles. In 1989, 235 tanks from the sixth batch were decommissioned and reverted to the A3 standard.
