To correct the identified flaws of the fast E 50-class escort ships of the "Le Corse" type, the successor models designated "E 52" adopted a mirrored arrangement of the same armament consisting of three 57-mm twin turret mounts/60 ACAD remote controls model 1952, two 20-mm Oerlikon guns, four triple sets of 550 mm torpedo tubes, and a Bofors Mle 54 six-barrel rocket launcher of 375 mm. The torpedo tube sets were now placed on the main bridge behind the chimney, and the rocket launchers were located in front of the 57-mm twin mounts at the front. A combined surveillance radar DRBV 22A replaced the DRBV 20A of the predecessor ships. The ships ordered in 1952 (i.e., E 5 to E 11) benefited from "Off-Shore" financing, similar to the DE 1007, DE 1008, DE 1009, DE 1010, DE 1011, DE 1012, and DE 1013 of the US Navy classification.
