Erich Kästner: The Flying Classroom

Just before the Christmas holidays, chaos breaks out among the students in Kirchberg: the secondary school students from the town have stolen the dictation notebooks of their peers from the boarding school. Following this disgraceful act, a snowball fight ensues, during which the culprits are thoroughly pelted by the boarding school students. However, they won't get the notebooks back, as they have since been burned.

Meanwhile, the boarding school students are rehearsing their self-staged play "The Flying Classroom" for the Christmas celebration. Of course, this doesn't go off without a hitch, as Matthias is constantly thinking about food during rehearsals, and Uli wants to finally show the others that he is not cowardly. But in the end, everything goes smoothly on stage. The students even manage to reunite their favorite teacher, Dr. Justus, with his old childhood friend after many years—a doctor who has become somewhat bitter due to many hardships. And thanks to the help of his teacher, Martin, the model student, is able to go home for Christmas despite his parents' financial struggles.
