Many, many years ago: In the northwest of America, three brothers, Kenai, Denahi, and Sitka, live together. A tragic accident leads to the death of the eldest brother at the hands of a bear. Kenai, the impulsive youngest, vows revenge. But then something incredible happens: Kenai is magically transformed into a bear himself.

From this new perspective, the world looks completely different: To find his way on four paws and become human again, Kenai must befriend a supposed arch-enemy, the young, adorably chatty bear Koda, who is always talking non-stop and is searching for his mother.

Together, this unlikely pair sets off on a journey: Kenai, to regain his human form, and Koda, to find his mother at the legendary annual bear festival, Salmon Run.
