Cobi VW Golf I(1979)

As with all VW Golf generations, the VW Golf I already had a number of model variants. These included the Golf GTI, which was equipped with a significantly more powerful engine. This sporty variant with the 81 kW (110 hp) engine of the Audi 80 GTE was launched in mid-1976 and outperformed all comparable compact cars in terms of performance. It could easily compete with a Ford Escort RS 2000 or an Opel Kadett GT/E, both of which had 25% more cubic capacity. The 1979 GTI version used here as the Cobi model still had a displacement of 1.6 litres. In 1983, the last year of construction of the first generation, the engine capacity of the GTI version was increased to 1.8 litres, which resulted in better torque and a better speed level. The current GTI variants of the eighth generation have highly efficient 2.0 litre TSI engines that deliver up to 235 kW (320 PS). Model in 1:12 scale, with 1460 parts, printed blocks and moving elements.
