Product details
The Elephant was a heavy armored gun and tank destroyer used by the Germans during World War II. The vehicle remains highly popular and recognizable among history and military technology enthusiasts. The brick model of this very famous World War II vehicle has been designed at a scale of 1:28 from 1,252 elements and measures 28.5 cm in length. The bricks and the figure feature high-quality prints, with no stickers in sight. The model includes functions such as a removable brick-built engine replica, working track traction, a cannon that can move vertically and horizontally, detailed interior elements, and opening hatches. The set also includes a detailed figure of a crew member with accessories like a submachine gun and a canister. The entire set is complemented by a plaque with the vehicle's name printed on it. A detailed and very large model of a heavy tank destroyer is a must-have for collectors and history lovers.
The first version of the German heavy tank destroyer was named Ferdinand after its designer Ferdinand Porsche. A slightly improved version of this vehicle, equipped among other things with a machine gun at the front and a commander's cupola, was called Elephant. COBI has prepared both versions. The Tank Destroyer Tiger (P) Elephant was constructed on the chassis of the Tiger I tank. Series production began in 1943, initially under the name Ferdinand. Ferdinands participated in battles on the Eastern Front, including the Battle of Kursk. The tank destroyers were armed with the powerful 88 mm anti-tank gun PaK 43/2 L/71, making them effective against almost all enemy vehicles. Thick armor provided good protection for the vehicle.
