The F-117 Nighthawk by Lockheed Martin is a twin-engine, single-seat tactical bomber of the USAF, which was delivered to the armed forces in August 1982 as the world's first aircraft featuring stealth technology. Its development began in the 1970s, and production lasted from 1981 until the summer of 1990. By October 1983, the first unit of F-117s could be formed with the 4450th Tactical Group. The aircraft has an unconventional shape made of flat surfaces that do not reflect radar waves, and a specially coated dipolar outer skin that absorbs up to 90% of incoming radar waves, applied by hand. The Nighthawk was first used during the US invasion of Panama in December 1989 (Operation Just Cause) and later in the Gulf Wars.
