Product details
The British Mark I from World War I (1914-1918) is generally regarded as the first functional tank in history. Its creation is primarily attributed to the proposals of Sir Ernest Dunlop Swinton and the military-political support as a 'landship' from the then Minister of the Navy, Sir Winston Churchill. The Male version of the Mark I was used as a machine gun and artillery carrier, while the Female version was solely a machine gun carrier and was deployed for escort protection against enemy infantry. The first deployment took place on September 15, 1916, during the Battle of the Somme at Flers. Many of the total 49 vehicles were lost to enemy artillery fire or captured by the Germans and later used against the Allies. Today, only one example exists, the tank C.19, which is displayed at the British Tank Museum in Bovington. Model with 878 pieces, 1 minifigure, printed blocks, and movable elements. Model dimensions (LxWxH): 28 x 13 x 9 cm.
