The V2 rocket is one of the most famous so-called "wonder weapons" that were supposed to decide the war. Its design still fascinates many history and World War enthusiasts today. The V2 rockets (Vengeance Weapon 2) were the world's first ballistic long-range missiles. They were developed by Nazi Germany during World War II, with Wernher von Braun as the chief designer. The V2 rockets were primarily used by the Germans from 1944 for attacks on London and other Allied cities. The V2 had a range of about 300 km and could carry a warhead of approximately 1 ton. The initial design was based on engines powered by liquid fuel. After launch, the rocket ascended to an altitude of about 100 km (which is space!) and then crashed down at tremendous speed onto its target, making it practically impossible to intercept.
