Alice in Wonderland

For 19-year-old Alice Kingsley (Mia Wasikowska), life holds a surprise: During a Victorian garden party held in her honor, she receives a marriage proposal from Hamish, the wealthy but dull son of Lord and Lady Ascot. Alice flees, leaving society without an answer. She follows a peculiar white rabbit dressed in a waistcoat and carrying a pocket watch.

The rabbit runs across a meadow and then disappears into a hole in the ground. Just as suddenly, Alice is pulled into the hole and falls through a strange, dreamlike passage until she finally lands in a round room with many doors. After some initial difficulties involving a bottle labeled "Drink Me" and a cake decorated with the words "Eat Me," Alice manages to open one of the doors and step through, aided by the shrinking effect of the drink and the enlarging effect of the cake. She enters a magical world known to its inhabitants as Wonderland.

There, she encounters a colorful mix of characters: from the daring Dormouse (Barbara Windsor) to the completely mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), from the Cheshire Cat to the hookah-smoking Caterpillar Absalom, from the creepy White Queen (Anne Hathaway) to her nasty and temperamental older sister and ruler of Wonderland, the Queen of Hearts (Helena Bonham Carter).
