The largest lifeboat cruiser used by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) to save lives at sea. The class is named after the River Severn, the longest river in Great Britain. The Severn class includes 46 vessels that have been in service for search and rescue operations off the coasts of Britain and Ireland since 1996. Each vessel is equipped with a Y-class inflatable boat that can be deployed for rescue operations in shallow waters using a ship's crane. The model kit was awarded "Model of the Year 2007" at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg.
