The Japanese motorbike, characterised by its off-road and "enduro" design, was produced in several versions with different chassis solutions and different engines. One of the most famous versions of the series was the XT 600 Teneré, which was equipped with the most powerful single-cylinder engine available. Due to its reliable design, which achieved impressive commercial success, a special version called the "660" was built to compete in off-road and endurance competitions such as the Paris-Dakar and the Pharaoh Rally. It used a larger engine with a capacity of 634 cc, an improved "Ohlins" suspension, special oil and air filter ideals for extreme climatic conditions and a large fuel tank that characterised the "muscular" and "eye-catching" design.
