The T-34 tank is undoubtedly one of the most famous armored fighting vehicles of World War II and formed the backbone of the Soviet forces during this conflict. The key innovations introduced with the T-34 included sloped frontal armor, which provided better protection against incoming hits, and the use of wide tracks, ideal for good mobility across all types of terrain. The first T-34s, armed with a short-barreled 76 mm gun, immediately gained a tactical advantage over the most widely used German tanks at the time, such as the Panzer III and Panzer IV. Thanks to its 12-cylinder diesel engine with 500 horsepower, it could reach a top speed of 55 km/h. Due to its outstanding operational capabilities, many historians consider it the best tank of World War II.
