The heavy armored reconnaissance vehicle Sd. Kfz. 232 was distributed to Wehrmacht units in the mid-1930s. The effective system of reconnaissance and radio communication between units was a key factor in the success of mobile warfare and blitzkrieg. The Sd. Kfz. 232 was a good response to this need. The mobility of the 6-wheeled vehicle, both on the road and in rough terrain, was combined with improved radio equipment for communication over long distances. The reconnaissance vehicle was equipped with a large loop antenna, which was later replaced by a vertical antenna, ensuring reliable communication between command and troops on the battlefield. The armament in the turret provided sufficient firepower for the vehicle's defense and for advanced reconnaissance missions.
