Product details

The heavy piston-engine transport aircraft Fairchild C-119 served the US Air Force as a basis for conversion into a flying gunboat. This special design was primarily used in Vietnam for night operations against Viet Cong supply lines and troop concentrations, with the AC-119 K version being particularly effective against trucks due to its armament of 2x20mm cannons and 4x7.62mm miniguns. Two additional jet engines were added to allow the ammunition-laden aircraft to take off from short runways. With the commissioning of the more powerful AC-130H, these aircraft were gradually handed over to the South Vietnamese Air Force, which operated them until the fall of the Saigon government.
