The Marder III tank destroyer Sd.Kfz. 138 was developed for the Wehrmacht based on the now outdated Panzerkampfwagen 38(t) produced in Czechoslovakia. It went into production in 1942 to meet the needs of the Eastern Front and was deployed on all fronts until the end of the war. A significant improvement was the installation of an effective 75 mm anti-tank gun, which was protected by an angled steel shield. To better protect the soldiers, the engine was located at the rear of the vehicle and the weapon system was positioned in the middle. With the Marder III, the Wehrmacht had a tank destroyer that was easy to produce and had high firepower, capable of engaging the main tanks of that time.
