The German armored vehicle 'Heavy Armored Reconnaissance Vehicle Sd.Kfz. 234/2', known as the "Puma", was developed and produced by the German war machinery in the final years of World War II. The vehicle proved to be an excellent combination of mobility, protection, and firepower, based on the operational experiences that the Wehrmacht had gathered in the early phases of the conflict. From 1939 onwards, the German army effectively employed armored vehicles for advanced reconnaissance tasks and in a support role for their troops. The "Puma" was originally a reconnaissance vehicle but could also be effectively used in offensive operations against infantry and other armored vehicles due to its KwK 39 L/60 50 mm gun. It was deployed in limited numbers on both the Eastern and Western fronts. The highly effective independent suspension system of the eight wheels and the powerful engine allowed the Puma to reach speeds of up to 90 km/h on all types of battlefield terrain.
