Irrigation computer
Is the housing of the computer waterproof? I have a stupid water tap with 2 outlets. If you're not careful, the water runs over the computer when you adjust it. This is what killed the previous model.
...a big problem that often occurs with frost-proof outdoor taps is that the seals become brittle and then also easily build up some limescale. A simple solution to the problem is to replace these seals and dissolve out the limescale inside with your fingers (and some Durgol). With the O-ring gasket set (9476704) you have several pieces of each gasket at home, so you are supplied for the next few years and can save yourself the plumber/sanitary. (Please only do this if you are confident that you can do the work :-)
Good luck!
My computers last about two to three years. They are fully exposed to the sun in summer and unscrewed indoors in winter. In spring, my gardener always seals the supply tap with foil, because the computer does not sit tight when it is under water pressure - which it does for 3/4 of the year when it is supposed to water.
Have been using the irrigation for years and the computer is exposed to the weather (sunny side). Take irrigation in during winter...so far everything works as it should!
In my case, the housing also got wet. There were no problems with it. However, whether the case will stay tight for a long time (several years) is beyond my knowledge. I think the weather (sun, rain, cold and heat) would play its part, so in my opinion it will ultimately be a question of time before it starts to leak.
Logical solution: tackle the problem at its root, i.e. replace the water taps.
