ESD transport trolleys counteract electrostatic charges and protect electronic components. They feature a galvanised housing and an electrically conductive powder coating in gentian blue (RAL 5010). The trolleys are equipped with swivel castors that have electrically conductive solid rubber tyres and roller bearings, along with brakes on the swivel castors in accordance with European standard EN 1757-3. Fixed castors (non-rotating) also have electrically conductive solid rubber tyres and roller bearings. The load surface is made of electrically conductive chipboard in white.

Frictional electricity can occur, for example, when walking over a carpet, charging a person to approximately 30,000 volts. Electrical discharges can cause considerable damage to microelectronic components or, in certain circumstances, may lead to a fire in areas at risk. Electrostatic discharges are prevented by the conductive connection of all metal parts, the incorporation of metallic conductors such as graphite particles, and the use of electrostatically dissipative materials. These materials have slightly increased electrical conductivity, which safely dissipates any electrical charges while preventing high-current discharges.
