The Strelitzia reginea, also known as the bird of paradise flower, creates a tropical atmosphere in any room. Originally from South Africa, this plant can now be found worldwide. The Strelitzia is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, as long as it is brought indoors when temperatures drop below 10 degrees Celsius. With its large, pointed leaves and beautiful orange and blue ornamental flowers, the bird of paradise flower is a striking focal point. It takes about 5 years for the Strelitzia to bloom, with the flowering period often occurring from May to October. This Strelitzia arrives with at least 2 flowers already in bloom. After the flowering period, it may take up to 12 months for it to bloom again. The mature height of the bird of paradise flower indoors is about 150 cm.
Care: The bird of paradise plant prefers a location with plenty of light. Therefore, it requires a lot of water (ensure proper drainage to prevent root rot). Water less in winter, allowing the soil to dry out regularly. The plant can also be kept on the terrace in spring and summer. Since the plant is not frost-resistant, it should be brought back indoors by October at the latest.
Size: The plant has a height of 70-100 cm at delivery, measured including the nursery pot. It is delivered in a nursery pot with a diameter of 19 cm.
