Product details
The Chamaerops Humilis "Vulcano" originally comes from the northern side of Mount Etna in Sicily, which is why it has the nickname "Vulcano." It is a very exclusive species of palm that currently only exists in Sicily. The palm has a particularly compact growth habit and small, extremely sturdy leaves, giving it a bonsai-like appearance. The dwarf palm is a relative of the Chamaerops Humilis but differs in many ways from its cousin. It has more leaves that are short and compact, spines on the leaf stems, and this palm blooms faster. The leaves are dark green with a white waxy coating, creating a beautiful contrast. You can also plant the dwarf palm outdoors because the plant is hardy. The Chamaerops Vulcano grows very slowly, which is why larger specimens are often quite expensive. This palm is not easy to obtain, and seeds are nearly impossible to find. This makes it a beautiful, exclusive palm and a wonderful addition to any balcony, terrace, or garden.
Care
The Chamaerops Vulcano prefers a sunny and bright location as well as well-draining soil. The plant tolerates heat and drought but should be watered regularly during hot summers. The Chamaerops cannot withstand waterlogged conditions. The plant is hardy down to -10 degrees Celsius, so it should not be watered in winter. Due to its slow and compact growth, it is a good container plant but can also be planted outdoors. If temperatures drop below -10 degrees Celsius, the plant will need additional protection. The plants come with a care label providing care instructions.
