With this broaching tool, keyways with a width of 2 mm can be broached. Broaching tools are typically used in rack and pinion presses or hydraulic workshop presses. This broaching tool is made of HSS steel and is slightly tapered, with the cutting edges thickening in the direction of cut. As a result, with each tooth, the broached keyway becomes slightly deeper. To broach a keyway, the workpiece is placed on the work table of the press, and the appropriate guide bushing is inserted into the hole of the workpiece. The broaching tool is then inserted into the holder, lubricated with sufficient cutting oil, and pressed through the workpiece with the press. To achieve a deeper groove, spacers can be used.
