The D fuse system is a screw fuse system of the first generation. It is still widely used in installations. The D fuse system is applied in low-voltage installations where the fuse inserts are accessible to laypersons and can be replaced by them. The D fuse range includes sizes NDZ, DII, DIII, DIV, and DV. D fuse bases with D fuse inserts of the gG operating class are used to protect lines and installations. D fuse inserts safely disconnect inadmissible overload currents and short-circuit currents up to the rated disconnection current. They also protect electrical devices and installations from the electrodynamic effects of high short-circuit currents. DIN VDE 0636-3. The ring inserts and the design of the fuses ensure that no larger fuses can be screwed in than permitted for the line.
