What is UV-C? UV-C clarification is essential for every pond. It kills the cells of suspended algae. If this does not happen, you will experience the phenomenon of a green pond. The irradiation with UV-C light destroys microscopic cells through a chemical bond of the DNA (cellular genetic material). They clump together and are removed from the water cycle by the filter.

The size (wattage) of the UV-C lamp to choose depends on your pond volume and the surface area of the pond. The larger the surface area, the greater the sunlight exposure and the growth of suspended algae. High wattage UV-C devices are ineffective if the circulation is too small. We have often observed this in ponds that were poorly planned. The pond volume should be pumped through the UV-C lamp at least every two hours.
