The safety limit switches of the GSS series are designed according to the operational and mounting characteristics according to EN50041. They are specifically intended for use in safety applications. All devices are independently tested according to the standards IEC947-5-1/EN60947-5-1 and meet the essential requirements of the Low Voltage Directive for switching devices. They are all marked as positively opening and comply with the provisions of the Machinery Directive as amended by Directive 91/368/EEC. They are devices of Category 1 according to EN954-1 (Machinery Directive). The category can be increased to 4 in conjunction with safety relays. Protection class IP67. Typical application cases include safety doors where key orientation has proven to be a problem that cannot be solved by key-operated switches, and where the user must be able to distinguish critical safety components on the machine from standard sensors.
