Attention beautiful does not necessarily mean good

An insect hotel is a good idea and should not be missing for anyone who wants to promote biodiversity. Unfortunately, however, the vast majority of insect hotels on the market do not fulfil their purpose in the slightest and only lure money out of the customer's pockets instead of attracting bees. A few points to consider. Holes from 2 to 8mm should be available (6 & 8 mm are most popular) Hardwood is preferred and above all there is less risk of injury to the wings. => no sprouts, holes must be clean and not frayed. And holes in the end grain (along the grain) are absolutely useless. And anything other than drilling is practically useless anyway and attracts earwigs, which in turn can become a problem for the other species. Clean bamboo tubes and cardboard tubes are also readily colonised. Insects only fly into dark holes, i.e. closed on one side and without cracks! Have fun with the selection @Galaxus: you may also consider this when adding to your range. You would be doing something good.
