Kevlar® and PU provide excellent protection at a low weight. Its understated design and weight of only 725 g make the Ortles Couloir the lightest mountaineering boot in its category. This is made possible by the lightweight yet stable supporting carbon fiber frame. The combination of pressure-molded carbon fibers and reinforced unidirectional polymer fiber composites allows for reduced thickness while achieving maximum torsional and longitudinal stiffness, strength, and rigidity. The upper part of the frame is additionally reinforced with Kevlar®.
