Hanwag Tashi

Half-high goat-sewn from robust yak leather for the mountains. The shoe is suitable for demanding hikes in the low mountains and light trekking tours off paved trails and on climbs.

The stiffness of the sole, the sprengung (how far the sole is rounded to allow good rolling), and the shaft construction determine how a model is positioned within the categories. For this reason, you will find the categories A-B-C-D for each model. This gives you an idea of how stiff the shoe is.

D = very firm and fully crampon resistant (step-in/automatic crampons). C = firm and conditionally crampon resistant (strap-on/semi-automatic crampons). B = firm hold and solid but flexing sole for trekking and hiking. A = soft, very good flexing construction.

Cradle stitched: Traditional, highly crafted method of making in which the upper and sole units are joined with stitching.

Leather lining: Very comfortable to wear due to rapid moisture absorption and for a natural feel. Good fit. Dries slower than synthetic lining, less suitable for touring in wet regions.

Reduced seams: Fewer seams reduce the risk of potential pressure points and seam wear. It looks simple, but is difficult and expensive to produce.

100% re-soleable: Thanks to the pinched or goat-stitched construction, Hanwag's shoes are re-soleable multiple times.
