Edelrid G-Screamer

The G-SCREAMER is a small and lightweight HMPE sling with an integrated compact webbing energy absorber, which can provide an important safety reserve in alpine terrain, on big walls, or during ice climbing. With a length of 15 cm, it is hung like a quickdraw between two carabiners and used as an intermediate protection at questionable anchor points and/or wide distances to keep the load on these anchors as low as possible. In the event of a fall, the energy absorber deploys, absorbing energy and reducing the force on the anchor point to below 4 kN. The total length after the energy absorber has fully deployed is 100 cm. Thanks to its minimal weight of under 50 g, the G-SCREAMER weighs only slightly more than a conventional quickdraw. However, it provides a significant safety reserve attached to the harness. As an additional innovative application, the G-SCREAMER, in combination with rope clamps according to EN 567, meets the dynamic requirements of EN 15151-1 (braking devices with manually assisted locking) and thus allows for backup protection with rope clamps. When using this combination, the likelihood of rope damage in the event of a fall by the second climber is significantly reduced.
