The late 70s and early 80s will forever be known as a very successful time in the history of "Les Garnets." With the introduction of artificial lighting, an electronic scoreboard, and the roofing of the stands behind the goals, the club entered the world of modern football. In the 1978/79 season, the club achieved a historic treble in the league and cup with a team featuring top scorers Marc Schnyder, Hansjörg Pfister, Umberto Barberis, and Dutch midfielder Piet Hamberg. The latter scored the decisive goal in a 3-2 victory against the Young Boys, bringing the Swiss Cup home. In the following years, the "Garnets" managed to win two more cups and a fifteenth championship title.
