With the introduction of artificial lighting, an electronic scoreboard, and the roofing of the stands behind the goals, the club entered the world of modern football. In the 1978/79 season, the club achieved a historic treble in the league and cup with a team featuring goal scorers Marc Schnyder, Hansjörg Pfister, Umberto Barberis, and Dutch midfielder Piet Hamberg. The latter scored the decisive goal in a 3-2 victory against the Young Boys, bringing the Swiss Cup home.
